Achieving Greatness – Victor’s Medals

Founder Community Manager | unknown date

Accompanying Aelion’s Call was a new form of alternative currency which is made available during Invasions. These items,Victor’s Medals, supply a way for players to obtain unique consumables as well as extremely useful and rare items.

How are Victor’s Medals obtained?

First and foremost, a reliable method exists through the new Invasion Promo Adventures! Completion of adventures with this bonus mission attached to them will net a hefty sum of Victor’s Medals.

Along with this, additional Victor’s Medals can be obtained through a special Invasion Order Mission or can be directly purchased in-game via the Invasion tab of Skyforge’s Marketplace (N).

Skyforge Victor’s Medals

Victor’s Medals in Promotional Events

During our next time-limited Promotional event (codename Law and Order), you will be able to gather Victor’s Medals. These events are a great way to accumulate a huge amount of medals in a short period of time. Of course, your Victor’s Medals won’t disappear at the end of the event, so you can use them at any time to get your items from the Marketplace (N).

What can I get in exchange for Victor’s medals?

Substrate Regeneration - 5 Victor’s Medals
Skyforge Substrate Regeneration
A consumable restoring 45% of health to your Immortal. Cooldown is 2 minutes and recharges when the character is out of combat.

Group Mass Accelerator - 15 Victor’s Medals
Skyforge Mass Accelerator
A consumable granting you and your allies in 40 yard radius a movement speed bonus of 40%, along with an immunity to movement restricting effects. Lasts for 10 seconds. Cooldown is 5 minutes and recharges when out of combat.

Second set of Ability - 7,000 Victor’s Medals
Skyforge Set of Abilities
After obtaining an additional ability set, players can save a new set of abilities and talents for all of their classes, allowing them to freely swap without spending any resources.

Keep in mind that making alterations to the sets themselves will still require Sparks of Transformation.

What is coming next?

Optimizer I / Optimizer II - 8,000 Victor’s Medals and 20,000 Victor’s Medals respectively

Skyforge Optimizer
A unique creation of Flavius, developed specifically for the orders of new gods! It allows you to enable any two chapels in a province at the same time.

Third and fourth sets of Ability
Skyforge Sets of Ability
After obtaining an additional ability set, players can save a new set of abilities and talents for all of their classes, allowing them to freely swap without spending any resources.

Keep in mind that making alterations to the sets themselves will still require Sparks of Transformation.

As we move forward, more interesting enhancements will be added to the Market in exchange for Victor’s medals and, in turn, providing players with access to some much anticipated upgrades!

Hi Ropedrink.

Could you please clarify for us if the medals are limited to 105 per day of active Invasion without payment?

(75 from the promo plus another 10+10+10 from the three order missions during those 24 hours).

My understanding is that it is possible to achieve ((105*12)*2)= 2,520 Victor's Medal per month, counting two active invasion phases of 12 days in a cycle of 30 days. Please correct me if this figure is wrong.

I hope this number was taken into account to decide the price of Optimizer I and II which haven't been announced yet,

especially since 500 medals cost 1,250 Argents in the shop.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thus 7,000 Medals = 17,500 Argents = almost value of a 22.99€ pack (20k)

and 18,500 Medals = 46,250 Argents = just short of the value of a 44.99€ pack (50k)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This basically means if you don't revise the pricing for both optimizers (compared to RU 7k & 18.5k), you are forcing every serious/dedicated players to fork over 68€ just for this event,

-

Or, alternatively,

you tell them farm for 10 months of medals just to acquire the upgrades from 1 event (but guess how many more of those will take place during those 10 months..)

You can argue that the credit cap can and should be used to acquire those medals. However this is not feasible in reality because we already need years of weekly credit cap to reach 8th levels of Vector Nodes and appropriate level of ring ornament to perform well in endgame.

The devs made the choice of this credit cap. They made it clear it is here to stay. Then they need to revise the medal pricing, or allow them to be farmed faster without payment.

My personnal suggestion would be to keep the credit cap, but allow Victor's medals, as well as the green ether cores to be farmed in small quantities even when capped for credits, to allow free players to alleviate the huge costs somewhat, while still preserving the advantage of paying customers.

You just can't keep on piling the required investments like this and claim it to be attainable for free players still.

You will only achieve to drive everybody away from the game if you persevere in that way.

Learn from Allods Online.

Learn from ArcheAge.

Learn from every f2p game that doomed its fate when introducing mandatory power creep only realistically attainable with real-money game currency.

The Two chapels optimizers, and later during the 3rd event, the two ranks of the Might Symbol, are all necessary to participate in both the true upcoming PvE endgame (God Avatars) and PvP endgame (ranked, unscaled Pantheon Wars) competitively. Keep this fact in mind. This is not a random claim. Top russian raiders with everything maxed and every event upgrades have already wiped twice on the Mechanoid avatar.

In my opinion this required investment is excessive and asking too much from the playerbase;

However, I realize it might appear acceptable to others, and I just wish to get a healthy debate started, grounded in objective, mathematical truth about the game economy from a free player perspective.

-------------------------------------------------

End note to be honest and fair with the publisher:

There might be some discount on the argent price of medals in Shop in the future. This will lower the overall cost of bulk medals. I am also aware that € prices appear more expensive when the game costs are calculated in USD and that the economical situation in Russia make their price in RUBL seem artificially low in comparison.

However, european players shouldn't be punished for that.

How many victor medals will the optimizers cost in EU/US? Hopefully its not the same as it is in RU, 8000 and 18000 is a bit too much..

According to Dolp's post, he said that 7k medals cost 17.5k argents and 18.5k medals cost 46.2k argents, which is way higher than its RU counterpart.

Unless I'm mistaken and the RU version actually has a higher price tag.

At some point there will be invasion every day or even multiple invasions at the same time (like in RU atm) so most likely you will be able to get more points than 2,520 per month.

Problem is RU pay in RUBL, a currency that has seen its worth devaluate hugely with the economical situation there. This has consequence to make argents cheaper for RU players, and more expensive for players from € zone.

(see I even quote facts in favor of publisher, proof my objectiveness xD)

Even though, I still think the required investment is too hefty all things considered.

Revenue/Price curve isn't linear, it's a bell curve.

You would do more profits taking 20€ from 30,000 players

than milking 60€ from only 5,000 players.

It's in the game best-interest for the long term, really.

What a crappy way to make money.. Instead of putting lots of costume , mounts and weapon skins they pull this kind of crap when at this point if you want order and weapons to be maxed you have no choice but to buy argents for credits... If they continue like this without giving us more credits from playing the game(even with premium you need to buy credits cause everything to max cost millions) then I hope they loose all their playerbase.

The game is already becoming more and more boring. Grinding is excessive. Dungeons and farming is excessive and boring (thanks but not thanks for such invasions - im talking to You Saiban!) Every event will become more and more p2w. 100k+ prestige player here. Im already looking for another MMO - many premieres soon or already started as F2P...

Keep it that way and all You will have left is high paying players base only...

I really need this item. And I won't spend 17.5k argents. Tell us more about those "promotional events"..maybe I can get 10 medals/dungeon or mission? -_- Or is it like your grand pix event? more and more argents..

Самой интересно собирать разные предметы, они мне кажутся уникальными каждый раз.

More and more the future of skyforge is getting grim, what keeped me from trying alphas or closed betas was the cash shop cause of the "allods" team historial on good cash shop grabs, but my fears are ebcoming true, thsi game is burning down, burning down fast!

RiP? any news what the Optimizer I / Optimizer II cosT?

saw a video where some guy from RU server reached the 900 point mark and got the 2 coins after spending around 42k argents, so that's probably what you're looking at

~42.000 argents or ~60.000 if you're really unlucky

Wrong. The issue is wages in Russia vs Europe differ by a factor of 300-400% which is what causes the difference. This isn't anything recent. Russia is a second world country, and most of Europe is in the first world. You can't imagine how many things are cheaper in the second world simply by virtue of people earning less. If you want to pay less but also earn less, move here. :^)

Difference lvl 14 ornament (easy to reach) and lvl 20 is 20k str vs 22,5k. About vectors, well if you dont wanna perform well in endgame then you should get 8th lvl of Vector Nodes. With weekly credit cap you can make up to 10k argents per week, with bonus victor medals its easy to get second optimiser in 3 weeks.

Events happen about every 2-3 months, so there insane amount excessive credits for everything you need endgame

Noble Judge Noble Judge | unknown date

I'm guessing we're going to hear that we're supposed to convert our credits to argents to get the second ability set/double chapels/might and stamina efficiency bonus/other crap coming out in the future.

Because that totally won't make players fall behind on chapels/vectors.

Currently it would cost 17500 argents to buy the second set of abilities with argents alone, which would require converting 2.940.000 credits. This system doesn't seem to be working yet, but argent's price is supposed to fluctuate, so if players keep converting credits to argents, this price will eventually increase. It's also very likely that the 3rd and 4th sets will cost significantly more.

Getting this many credits would currently take either 4-5 weeks ('normal' grinding) or 2-3 weeks (prioritizing holy texts).

So, this leaves players with a few choices:

  1. Pay.
  2. Grind for weeks.
  3. Screw it.

Some players can deal with heavy grinding for a while, but Skyforge forces players to do that on every single opportunity. Invasion operations are a joke, except no one's laughing. Same with the so called "Grand Prix", assuming you actually tried to get the ability set without paying. Every single "event" in Skyforge involves excessive grinding and that's just terrible game design.

Most MMOs create some long term goals to keep players invested, like gear that can only be acquired for reputation or some other currency crap with elaborate name or encouraging to create multiple characters. Skyforge also creates a long term goal for the player, grinding for weeks in order to be able to afford the next cashgrab event.

Additionally, once more overpriced bonuses are added, Skyforge will become rather unwelcoming to new players because they will be forced to pay to catch up (since credits generously haven't been included in the catch up system, unless I'm mistaken).

Skyforge tries to force players to pay on almost every opportunity. If players don't want to pay, they're forced to grind instead and grinding is boring. Bored players will more often than not quit playing instead of forcing themselves, especially when they have to do this all the time - this might take longer if they already invested time and money in the game, but sooner or later they will quit anyway. In MMOs a declining playerbase can easily spiral out of control - some players quit, more players follow because their friends did, this leads to increased queues/waiting times for most activities which in turn makes even more players quit...

This business model is self destructive.

I don't have problem with grinding. But according to your calculation, 4-5 weeks of grinding? No thanks..
Founders pack was cheap compared to all these money-sinking events..
And I rather spend those credits for my pantheon. xD (yea, credit catch-up would be necessary as well, no one ever thought of "pantheon catch-up"? just another reason to raise credit limit..)

It's not constant grinding, you just can't do it faster because of the caps. If you avoid getting credits from anything besides enhancement stones/holy texts, this can be done in 2-3 caps. Invasion 3 man (waves of mechanoids) is a decent holy text farm, if I remember correctly, clearing it on S gives 45 texts (with premium) or 30 without premium, so that's ~40k/28k in 15 minutes. Getting victor medals from from promo and order missions can also reduce the cost by a bit (though it won't be enough on its own even if you do all of them).
